Terrific Transportation Learning

We watched a few more clips from Reading Rainbow about airplanes. They were a big hit with the whole group.  The students saw the first airplanes invented then saw inside the cockpit as Levar learned about pre-flight checks, the gauges, how to take off and land a plane.

We've also been doing a movement game to the song Freight Train by Elizabeth Mitchell.  We do a little conga line around our rug that makes our teeny tiny steps go a little bit faster with each new destination.  It is very fun, even for me!

These photos are from the end of last week.

The block building is getting more complex...
...and MUCH bigger!
Delivering building materials.
Some excellent representational painting!
Students decide what type of vehicle to make.
Adding details to our vehicles
Working hard in the deep snow!

We love our outdoor days!
Our little playground, somewhere in the back you can see our pirate sand boat.
Ahhh, spring in Vermont!

Planes, trains & automobiles...

As a special day end relaxing treat, Team 5 watched this video from our Dover School Discovery Education account:  Reading Rainbow: Kate Shelley and the Midnight Express

Today's Team 3 story time book:

We read this fun rhyming book about the many was you can get around on wheels while Team 5 had their Library time with Mrs. Abarno.  Dover Airlines continues to do a brisk business in the Dramatic Play Center.  I guess my demonstration about how to build ramps at circle time was pretty inspiring.  Look at these great creation built today in the Block Center:

This young Vermonter had no problem putting these steps in order!

Some students are making their own transportation vehicles out of recycled materials.
This popular multi-step project takes planning and persistence to finish.
